About the Blog

Sit down, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and hang out for a while. I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

I started This Is Motherhood in March 2014. I was struggling at a difficult job and recovering from a devastating miscarriage when my sister suggested I start a mommy blog. At first I shrugged her off. Sure, I had been a writer in college, but who would care about my stories now? One night, I wrote a silly post about my hatred for a certain talking blue train, and when I hit “post”, I felt better than I had in a long time. I was hooked and This Is Motherhood was born. That winter, it was writing that pulled me out of stagnancy and depression and helped me renew my commitment to being a good mother.

At first I didn’t take myself seriously and I didn’t believe this could turn into anything except a personal outlet. Now that tens of thousands of people have read my words, my vision hasn’t change but I have a lot more purpose. And I’m having a lot more fun.

This Is Motherhood was created out of a need for positivity in my life and in my parenting and I’m still committed to that message. I make a lot of jokes about my kids and sometimes a serious post sneaks it’s way onto the site. But one thing is always certain: I love being a mother and I my goal is to capture the fun and funny side of parenting.

The most rewarding part of writing this is creating community and connecting with my audience. I love reading and responding to comments and emails.
